Targeted Patrols To Enhance Local Safety In Coleraine

Alarms and other crime prevention materials will be available at a public meeting next week, as part of a wider community safety initiative in Coleraine.

The meeting, organised Causeway Coast Women platform—a lifestyle online publication—will see members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and local political representatives come together to address safety concerns.

Superintendent McIldowney outlined the PSNI’s commitment to protecting women and girls, stating: “Our priority focus as a Police Service is to intervene early, relentlessly pursue perpetrators, manage offenders and disrupt any predatory behaviours in all spaces to keep women and girls safe. We are also continuing to actively listen and ensure the voices of local women and girls are heard.”

The community event, scheduled for next Thursday evening, will offer local officers the opportunity to address personal safety issues raised by residents. In addition, the PSNI plans to introduce enhanced operational measures, including targeted patrols in areas where women and girls have expressed feelings of vulnerability.

The initiative reflects a concerted effort by both police and community organisations to foster safer neighbourhoods, ensuring that those at risk are given the support and resources they need.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, 27 February at 7pm at the West Bann Development Centre, Killowen Court, Coleraine.
