NI Water Announces Key Infrastructure Enhancements For Ballycastle
Feb 17, 2025
Northern Ireland Water has announced that its contractor, AG Wilson, will begin a programme of essential sewer improvements next week in Ballycastle.
The project, which targets the Clare Street, The Diamond, and Castle Street areas, involves both traditional open-cut excavations and innovative trenchless repair techniques from existing manholes.
The open-cut work on Clare Street and The Diamond will be conducted using a lane narrowing traffic management strategy, ensuring that normal traffic flow is maintained throughout the operation. These works are scheduled to take place from 9:30 am on 17 February 2025 until 4:30 pm on 21 February 2025.
In contrast, the sewer repairs on Castle Street will require a continuous lane closure, with temporary traffic lights installed to manage the flow of vehicles. This phase of the project is set to run from 9:30 am on 24 February 2025 until 4:30 pm on 7 March 2025.
Northern Ireland Water, along with its project partners AECOM and AG Wilson, has expressed gratitude to local businesses, residents, and motorists for their patience and cooperation. The agency emphasized that these repairs are crucial for improving the sewerage system in Ballycastle, ensuring safer and more reliable service for the community in the long term.
