New Tourism Initiative: Historic Barn Conversion Proposal in Ballycastle

A planning application has been submitted to Causeway Coast & Glens Council to convert four historic barns into five-holiday accommodations.

The proposal also includes demolishing and rebuilding one barn on its existing foundations to create an additional holiday let, along with associated landscaping and parking at 1 Magheramore Road, Ballycastle. The applicant is Colin McPherson.

The planning statement confirms that the design will preserve the barns' original features – including stonework, timber beams, and corrugated tin doors – using materials sympathetic to the original construction.

The project is intended to support tourism growth, cultural preservation, and sustainable development in the region, reinforcing Ballycastle’s position as a visitor destination in Northern Ireland.
