Shortly after, at 8.17pm, the same crew returned to West Strand Road in response to another report of grassland on fire, measuring around 2sqm. The fire was extinguished by 8.20pm using a hose reel.

A third incident occurred on Eglinton Lane at 8.39pm, involving approximately 200sqm of grassland. Two fire appliances from Portrush Fire Station used hose reels to extinguish the blaze, finally bringing it under control by 9.31pm.

NIFRS has confirmed that all three fires are believed to have been started deliberately. Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
