Council Reviews Go-Karting Proposal For The Crescent, Portstewart
Feb 21, 2025
At the Land and Property Sub‐Committee meeting earlier this month, the committee addressed several matters, including considering an application concerning the use of council land at The Crescent, Portstewart. The application proposed repurposing the former track area for a go‐karting facility.
A confidential report outlining two potential options was presented.
The first option would be to have officers conduct an expression of interest exercise to assess the commercial opportunity and ensure the best value for money is obtained.
The alternative option involved immediate approval, subject to conditions such as a land valuation, remedial works, and the implementation of safety measures.
An officer noted that the area would need to be brought to an operational standard and that the timelines for both options were similar.
The committee agreed to recommend and approve option 1.
